Edward Moyer, Jr. for State Representative

Platform Points Explained

Our small towns and farms remain rich in history yet fragile in nature. Our towns have seen a slow drain of residents and businesses. Economic development and protection of our precious natural resources are the twin pillars of sustainability. One of my main concerns is the proposal to pump water from our aquifers to develop other areas. My background in science and mathematics prepares me to see through the fog of false assumptions and incomplete analyses.

Government by the people, for the people. Trust erodes when those elected to represent you don’t seem to be paying attention. Being a representative demands our full attention. Learning from the past, applying this wisdom to our current problems, and foreseeing future issues is the complex work of a legislator. It is work that I am eager to undertake.

True learning demands new ways of teaching. Preparing kids for their future demands we look at the world differently from when many of us were in school. Our world provides no answers to our problems in the back of the book. The issues we face are ill-structured and complex, demanding critical thinking, data analysis, and communication skills. Teachers, parents, students, and librarians all need our support to play their parts in this transformation.
